USGCRP will be present at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) occurring November 30 - December 12, 2023 in Dubai. COP28 is bringing together countries from around the world to increase ambition and strengthen efforts to achieve shared climate goals. USGCRP will be highly visible at the American Geophysical Union’s 2023 annual meeting , with staff and many Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5) authors attending in person. NCA5 events include a union session highlighting the report findings, a town hall featuring the work of NOAA’s Technical Support Unit in developing the report, and a poster session featuring all NCA5 chapters. The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) is pleased to announce the release of the Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5). The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) prepares comprehensive and up-to-date assessments of policy-relevant scientific, technical, and socio-economic information needed to further understand the scientific basis of climate change, potential impacts, and options for mitigation and adaptation. The Fifth National Climate Assessment (NCA5) is the US. Government’s preeminent report on climate change impacts, risks, and adaptation across the Nation. It is a Congressionally mandated, interagency effort that brings together hundreds of experts from federal, state, and local governments, as well as the academic, non-profit, and private sectors. Dr. Reyes is on detail to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where he serves as Assistant Director for Climate Services.
