Sarah Abdelrahim is the Deputy Director of USGCRP. She is on detail from FEMA's Risk Management Directorate. 
 
Sarah comes to USGCRP with an interdisciplinary background and experience working with many federal agencies and internationally. At FEMA, Sarah has worked on strategy and partnership development to support the evolution of FEMA's flood mapping program. Prior to her time with FEMA, Sarah worked at the Department of the Interior’s Office of Policy Analysis, where she coordinated a wide range of Departmental priorities related to science, climate adaptation and resilience, and the Arctic. At DOI, she also advanced resilience discussions through the Arctic Council and was the U.S. chair for the Arctic Resilience Action Framework project. Sarah has also worked with the United Nations Environment Program and NOAA’s Climate Program Office. Sarah has a M.A. in Climate and Society from Columbia University and a B.S. in Physical Sciences from the University of Maryland.
