The Adaptation Actions for a Changing Arctic (AACA) initiative provides combined stakeholder engagement and science-based information that can ultimately be incorporated and interpreted into useful and useable knowledge for making effective adaptation actions within a rapidly changing Arctic. This report presents an overview of the findings of the AACA Bering/Chukchi/Beaufort Region pilot study for policy-makers.
As a key part of the Fourth National Climate Assessment (NCA4), the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) oversaw the production of this stand-alone report of the state of science relating to climate change and its physical impacts. The Climate Science Special Report (CSSR) is designed to be an authoritative assessment of the science of climate change, with a focus on the United States, to serve as the foundation for efforts to assess climate-related risks and inform decision-making about responses. In accordance with this purpose, it does not include an assessment of literature on...

Established under the Global Research Act of 1990, the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) has provided strategic planning and coordination to 13 participating federal agencies working to advance the science of global environmental change. This new report highlights notable accomplishments of the program, both in through its coordinating work and the many synthesis and assessment products it has published to share research findings with decision makers and the public. One of the first priorities of the program was to address the need for a global observational system. Today there is a...
These State Climate Summaries were produced to meet a demand for state-level information in the wake of the Third U.S. National Climate Assessment, released in 2014. The summaries cover assessment topics directly related to NOAA's mission, specifically historical climate variations and trends, future climate model projections of climate conditions during the 21st century, and past and future conditions of sea level and coastal flooding.
This report was developed by the Strategic Plan Integration and Writing Teams, which report to the Subcommittee on Global Change Research and the National Science and Technology Council: Committee on the Environment, Natural Resources, and Sustainability. This report is published by the National Coordination Office for the U.S. Global Change Research Program. It meets the requirements set forth in the U.S. Global Change Research Act of 1990 (Section 102, P. L. 101-606) to provide a triennial update of the decadal National Global Change Research Plan. It does not express any regulatory policies...

This report describes the results of a workshop that addressed the challenge of developing coupled modeling and analysis of interdependent energy, land, and water systems. It has been prepared by a group of scientists who participated in the workshop process. The views expressed are those of the authors. The report includes short summaries of workshop presentations and breakout group discussions. It considers the opportunity to develop an interdisciplinary framework for data, modeling, and analysis of complex human-natural systems. The workshop was convened by a set of Federal agencies under...
This FY 2017 edition of Our Changing Planet includes an overview of the USGCRP research enterprise and recent highlights that demonstrate how the Program is fulfilling its 2012-2021 Strategic Plan. The report also spotlights progress in interagency research priority areas that intersect with President Obama's Climate Action Plan, such as Arctic research and resilience, methane cycling in the context of the carbon cycle, and water-cycle extremes and their impacts. The highlights in this Our Changing Planet report represent the broad spectrum of USGCRP activities that extend from Earth system...
Our Changing Planet USGCRP
In a workshop on April 20 and 21, 2016, USGCRP's SISCG brought together 20 experts from the federal government, the national laboratories, and academia to tackle the overarching science question: How might the economic character of the United States evolve at time scales ranging from annual to decadal, at spatial scales ranging from national to local, and taking into account the multitude of drivers and stressors that could shape the path, e.g. climate change, demographics, migration, and technology? The workshop was coordinated and supported by USGCRP member agencies, including the U.S...
