Workshop Objectives
- Explain how and why "knowledge" differs from information, data,
and wisdom.
- Discover what is needed to make data useful to users (scientists)
studying Earth processes, i.e. information and knowledge from data.
- Discover practices that data centers employ to address knowledge
management issues within the currently evolving technological and legal
environment.
- Illustrate the process of translating data for environmental
policy decision-making.
- Learn about current issues affecting practices in environmental
data centers.
- Identify ways to support data centers and the environmental
community's efforts to gain knowledge from data.
