The USGCRP is looking to fill a Global Change Information System (GCIS) Student Assistant position, located in Washington, DC.

Basic Job Function:

Facilitates and carries out GCIS Interagency Working Group (GCIS IWG) coordination, meeting support and white paper development. The position provides an excellent opportunity for exposure to the organizational structure within the Federal government that supports global change research and applications, as well as exposure to data management and other IT experts across the Federal government.

Duties Include:

  • Works with Interagency Working Group (IWGG) co-chairs to plan and implement IWG and associated workstream meetings or telecons.
  • Attends meetings for the GCIS IWG and related workstreams, assisting with meeting logistics, including developing meeting agendas, preparing pre-meeting materials, recording meeting decisions and actions, summarizing meeting discussions and following up with IWG teams to ensure action items are delivered.
  • Coordinates the development of work group reports, including interacting with report contributors, integrating and editing input, managing interagency or intra-office review processes and delivering final drafts.

Required Education and Experience:

  • College level coursework in relevant discipline such as environmental or earth sciences, political science, science communications, or other relevant fields
  • Must be enrolled in a college, university or professional school

NOAA's Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) publishes this notice on behalf of the National Climate Assessment and Development Advisory Committee (NCADAC) to announce the availability of a Draft Climate Assessment Report for public comment. Today, the National Climate Assessment Development and Advisory Committee (NCADAC), the federal advisory committee for the National Climate Assessment, approved their draft of the Third National Climate Assessment Report for release for public comment. The draft report is available for download - both as a single document and by chapter at

The public comment period for the report will run January 14 - April 12, 2013. All comments must be submitted via the online comment tool that will be available from beginning on January 14. The draft will be undergoing review by the National Research Council at the same time.

The draft report is a product of the NCADAC and is not a product of the federal government. The authors of the report will use the comments received during the public comment period to revise the report before submitting it to the government for consideration.
