Climate Adaptation Lead


Reid Sherman leads the climate adaptation and resilience portfolio at USGCRP, which involves the coordination of the Federal Adaptation and Resilience Group, and making connections across agencies in order to advance research into climate adaptation and inform programs aimed at improving resilience to climate impacts. Reid was previously the Global Change Information System (GCIS) Lead at USGCRP, guiding the development of GCIS to provide provenance for the scientific information used in USGCRP reports.

Prior to joining USGCRP, Reid was an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow in the NASA Earth Science Division where he guided coordination of Earth observation data policy and engaged with stakeholders inside and outside the government. He has also been a Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Fellow for the Committee on Science, Engineering, and Public Policy with The National Academies and a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Department at the University of Chicago.

Reid holds a Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's in astronomy from Haverford College.
